I do like the month of March.
The weather is getting better.. the evenings are getting lighter.
Sowing for my allotment is starting to pick up – it feels a lot of work, with rewards somewhere in the future when the fruit and vegetable harvest come in.
I’m pleased to say I’ve hit the 200 mile mark in my 1000 miles challenge. On the virtual map of the route, that puts me in sunny B3157 near Weymouth, in Dorset.
It’s been good getting out most days, especially now it’s dry and warmer!, but there have been times when I’ve been behind the “pacemaker” and thinking I’m slacking.
However, it reminds me of an event I hosted a week or so ago about resilience. The best way to build resilience is to build up your brain-muscle, by doing small things each day to help. As an example of things to do:
- Connect – make a point of talking to people you see outside, whether that be the postman, shop assistant, or maybe sending messages to friends and family who you haven’t seen for a whle
- Being active – getting outside for a walk, doing gardening, going to the gym can all help
- Finding a moment of calm – where do you go to find calm? Do you have somebody to talk to, something to do?
- Eat well, Sleep Well, Drink well – not too much.. not too little..
- Don’t worry at things you can’t change .
- Giveback – it can be so rewarding to give somebody some of your time, or work for a charity.
In our super busy networked world & the current challenges with Covid-19 and even the stresses of what’s happening in Ukraine, the ability to switch off and recharge is becoming more and more important.
That’s the first 200 miles done.. hope I can manage the next 800!!
If you are able to make a donation it will be used by the charity i work for, to help those who really need support.
